HP and AMD hope to stir SME interest with warranty offer

HP and AMD hope to encourage SME spending with an extended warranty offer on a range of notebooks

AMD and Hewlett-Packard are hoping to stir customer interest in buying fresh notebooks with an extended warranty package designed to help resellers get some joy out of the SME market.

Under the initiative channel partners selling any of three HP ProBooks, the 255 G1, 455 G1 or the 6475b, will be able to provide an extra two years warranty on top of the standard 12 months that comes with the hardware.

The extended warranty offer is supported by marketing tools and a technical sales support line and according to Grant Thomas, UK SBSO country manager at HP, should provide "partners with a really compelling offering".

He added that the warranty as well as the specs of the products and the affordability would all help give resellers reasons to encourage SME customers to refresh their notebook estate.

“AMD is entering into some exciting collaborations with our technology partners at the moment,” said James Blackman, UK channel manager at AMD, “SMBs can now take advantage of the latest in computing technology through the range of affordable mainstream notebooks HP has brought to market.”
