Cloud BI specialist Birst has formed the nucleus of a UK-specific channel offering with the signing of information management solutions reseller Acuma.
The San Francisco-based firm arrived in the UK last year – although it had served the market out of the States before that – and has spent the past few months identifying customer prospects and building up both a pipeline of business and a portfolio of local references to take to the wider market.
The signing of Acuma, explained Birst VP of international markets, Jason Bissell, is the next step in its growth strategy.
“Signing a company like Acuma, a long-standing analytics and BI integrator, gives us stability. They’ve done it all many times and they understand the idea of agile analytics,” he said.
Birst claims that its cloud analytics platform, which offers a single pane of glass for customers to manage all their business analytics, can dramatically lower ownership costs and deal with growing pressures around big data.
So far it has done the bulk of its business in the upper end of the midmarket and enterprise businesses, with a particular focus on the financial services and life sciences verticals. Acuma, which is one of the only firms offering analytics services through the G-Cloud, will also help Birst address public sector markets.
Further channel partners are expected to be recruited in the coming months, said Bissell, who revealed that high on his agenda would be the introduction of an application exchange model to build up a channel of partners building vertical-specific apps.
