Long serving Fujitsu Services UK chief executive Dave Courtley has resigned from the firm and executive chairman Richard Christou has taken hold of the reins while a search for a successor takes place.

Courtley joined the Japanese owned integrator as chief operations officer in 2001 but became the top dog two years later.

A spokesman at Fujitsu Services confirmed Courtley has resigned prior to Christmas but insisted his departure was amicable.

"He had been with us as chief executive for five years and as many chief executives often do, he felt the time was right to move on," he said, dismissing any suggestions that he left amid a spat with management as "wild speculation".

In terms of the market, Fujitsu Services said business was tough for all in the channel but the outlook for companies that supplied essential IT services remained comparatively positive.
