Emulex launches new channel promotions

Converged networking vendor Emulex is launching a number of channel promotions to bolster sales of its datacentre and cloud infrastructure performance-boosting kit

Converged networking vendor Emulex is launching a number of channel promotions to bolster sales of its Emulex LightPulse 16Gb Fibre Channel (16GFC) Host Bus Adapters (HBAs) designed to increase datacentre and cloud infrastructure performance and capacity.

IncentiveThe channel offers are being made available to resellers across Europe and the Americas until the end of December.

One element of the programme, dubbed LeapOver 8, is offering resellers the Emulex LightPulse 16GFC HBAs for the same price as the company’s 8GFC HBAs.

Another component, called Better Together, also involves EMC. This consists of the Emulex LightPulse 16GFC HBA with EMC’s VFCache, a server flash caching solution. This promotion offers resellers the opportunity to buy the Emulex LightPulse 16GFC HBA with the VFCache for the price of an 8GFC HBA.

The third element of the channel drive, called Best of Speed, is offering resellers the opportunity to buy the Emulex LightPulse 16GFC HBAs for the price of an 8GFC HBA when purchased with any Brocade 16GFC switch.

The channel moves are being driven by the company’s view on the I/O, storage, server and networking needs of datacentres to power cloud infrastructures. Its Emulex LightPulse 16GFC HBAs and Emulex OneCommand Vision 3.0 products are central to this view.

For example, its Emulex LightPulse 16GFC HBAs can allegedly deliver over 1.2 million IOPS on a single port, providing more than six times the IOPS, four times the power efficiency and over twice the data throughput of 8GFC HBAs. The company claims that in turn, this enables more efficient use of datacentre infrastructures which leads to both capital and operational expenditure savings.
