Sage takeover talk returns

Sage is again being tipped as a takeover target leading to an increase in the software vendor's share price and mounting talk of a change of ownership

It's a story that never seems to run out of steam but Sage is again being tipped as a takeover target after its shares rose.

The British software firm is no stranger to being linked with an acquisition but so far no one has emerged to seal any deals.

The latest speculation about a possible change in ownership comes from the Daily Mail, which is putting forward the case for a Microsoft or SAP takeover arguing that its days of independence must surely be numbered.

But as channel watchers will be all too aware the spiel about a buyout being a natural point of the vendor's evolution has been said on a fairly regular basis over the last couple of years.
