The Cloud Industry Forum (CIF) and its independent certification partner, APM Group, have launched a new version of its cloud code of practice (COP), incorporating ISO certifications for the first time.

The two year old Code of Practice is designed to help cloud providers demonstrate transparency, accountability and capability around cloud provisioning, with the idea of reassuring end-users seeking to migrate to the cloud.
APM and CIF say that the update will mean resellers seeking COP self-certification will be able to use ISO certifications, such as 9001, 14001 and 27001 in place of management system documentation.
The duo have also updated the documentation on offer to ease cloud resellers’ passage through the self-certification process.
APM CEO Richard Pharro said that by updating the COP and adding ISO certifications to it, they could address concerns among channel partners that “certification can seem like a formidable and arduous process”.
“The cloud market is clearly in need of credible and certifiable Code of Practice that provides CSPs with a benchmark for their services and a tool to demonstrate their compliance with best practice,” he added.
