The new Microsoft Star Partner Programme builds on Avnet's recent achievement of the Microsoft Gold Competency in Management and Virtualisation, which it claims is a UK first.
The programme will offer resellers sales cycle support and access to Microsoft exams and training initiatives, including advice around exploiting online channels and social media. Partners on the programme will also be able to take advantage of Avnet's vertically-focused SolutionsPath methodology.
In addition, Avnet said, around 40 top-performing partners will be eligible for extra financial incentives through Club Partner status.
Avnet UK Microsoft business unit manager Taisha Betz said the distie was aiming to "reward the loyalty of our business partners with a range of tangible benefits that should demonstrably drive forward their Microsoft business."
Barry German, core software division director at Cheshire-based Microsoft partner Frontline Consultancy praised Avnet's support to date in developing its Microsoft business.
"We believe the new programme will provide both practical and financial ebnefits when winning new business and adding emerging Microsoft technologies to new deals," he added.
