Security VAR Caretower has signed up cloud infrastructure services provider and FastHosts sub Rise to build it a hosted services platform as it evolves into a true managed services provider.

Caretower, which counts most of the security big guns, including McAfee, Sophos, Symantec and Trend Micro among its vendor partners, plans to address the growing demand for cloud-based services among its SMB customers

"In the past few years the level of interest surrounding cloud computing amongst our customers and potential customers has swelled sharply," explained Caretower MD Phydos Neophytou.

"A lot of our customers are looking at innovative ways of designing and purchasing their IT infrastructure, and by leveraging Rise's Datacentre on Demand we will be able to expand on our managed IT solution offerings and enter the cloud market with confidence," he added.

Rise director Steve Holford said the move addressed wider challenges facing the channel, by "securing a partnership that allows them to remain in control of their customer relationship and billing, whilst offering secure, reliable infrastructure and managed services to their clients".
