Software vendor Version One has poached ex-Sage midmarket boss to be its new managing director after Julian Buck announced he was stepping down from the role.

Ford has been charged with maintaining and increasing Version One's year-on-year growth, and high on his agenda from the off will be "re-energising" the software house's channel engagement, getting closer to current partners and boosting its marketing and training support.
"Our partners are vital to our success and we need to ensure they have all the tools to effectively resell our solutions," Ford said.
"There remains considerable market opportunity for Version One's solutions, both inside and outside the finance function," he added.
The Cheshire-based firm, which is part of the ACS Group, specialises in document management automation and imaging solutions that integrate tightly with major accounting and ERP systems.
It has also made much of its commitment to environmental compliance and the green IT agenda during a period when green has slipped down the agenda to some extent.
