CV Screen managing director Matthew Iveson said that IT professionals seemed increasingly willing to change jobs, "with less fear of redundancy clouding their decision to progress their careers."
Despite the surge in job applications from within the industry, there remained clear evidence of a skills shortage, reported CV Screen, with high demand for skilled IT staff pushing industry salaries up 2% since Q1 2011, to an average of £39,754.
The recruiters found particular demand for staff in .NET, Java, PHP and eCommerce-related roles, and it was these areas that helped push up overall salaries.
Said Iveson: "After a couple of brief dips in IT recruitment activity in Q2 2011, we have seen a strong end to the year in terms of demand and application rates. We fully expect the market will continue to improve in 2012 as employers continue to invest in their IT infrastructure."
