Softcat has taken the wraps off a cloud based security serviuce designed to help customers discover their vulnerabilities.

The xStorm scanning service helps users discover where their infrastructure could be exposed to hackers.

Scanning the public facing infrastructure once a month the service will check operating systems, patch levels, anti-virus and other data that could be used by cyber criminals to attack an organisation.

"Customers really want to run these critical scans but just don't have the time to do it," said Simon Walker, managed services director at Softcat.

"Our service ensures our customers don't have to buy and maintain the appliances themselves," he added.
