Kyocera Mita is to drop the Mita from its stationery, and would now like to be known as Kyocera Document Solutions.
The move reflects a common evolution among printer firms from the traditional pure-play print hardware and ink supplier role into an end-to-end print and document flow management hardware, software and services outfit.

Kyocera is billing the rebranding as the latest step in a long-term transformation plan, which has already seen the formation of its Managed Document Services group, and the expanding role of its country-specific Global Services Divisions.
It said that these developments had changed the company to such a degree that a new name was both "appropriate and necessary".
The firm's general manager of European marketing, Oliver Kreth, claimed the name change would "place customers at the centre of our business" and said the firm had now "created a robust platform for future growth".
