Consolidation in the distribution world has continued with Arrow ECS strengthening its hand across Europe with the acquisition of DCC owned Altimate.

Altimate specialises in security, data management and virtualisation and operates across eight countries in Europe including the UK, France, Benelux and Iberia.

The firm works with the likes of Symantec Enterprise Security, Oracle, NetApp and IBM with has a network of 2,500 resellers.

Patrice Arzillier, CEO Altimate Group, said that the company had closed a strong fiscal year and going into the Arrow relationship was in a strong position.

"Altimate has significant assets in hand: a recognised image and professionalism; strong partnerships; an indisputable commercial momentum. To consolidate these achievements and ensure the development of our Group, I sincerely think that this project for integration with Arrow...is the best choice," he said.

"It will allow us to meet the challenges of our industry. But more importantly, the culture of values at the heart of both our companies, and our complimentary resources, will create winning synergies to benefit our partners, whether suppliers or resellers," he added.

Andrew Bryant, president, Arrow global enterprise computing solutions, said that the acquisition complemented its existing portfolio and would strengthen its relationships with "critical suppliers".
