Dell has taken the wraps off a cloud specialisation for channel partners bringing it into line with its main rivals, which have already taken similar steps.
The vendor's cloud services and solutions certification for its PartnerDirect channel will give resellers the chance to provide cloud services on Dell's technology.
IBM has already taken steps to encourage its partners to get more focused on cloud and Dell is catching up quickly launching the scheme now in the US and across Europe from 12 April.
"We have created a certification practice area with choice and flexibility that will solidify partners' value to the end customer. We invested the time and resources to fully understand the cloud solutions our partners need to provide in the market," said Bob Skelley, executive director, Dell Global Certified Partner Programme and Channel.
The certification will be divided into three main areas to support different approaches to the cloud: Cloud Builder, for those resellers that will offer customers infrastructure options; Cloud Providers who will operate a networking operating centre and will provide a platform to deliver SaaS and Infrastructure as a Service, and finally Cloud Enablers for those partners acting as aggregators of services.
