Magirus has been signed up by Dell to handle the vendor's data centre solutions including its servers, storage and connectivity products.

The distributor has been working with Dell since the start of the year in Europe but now extends the relationship to cover the UK, starting from next month.

Magirus joins the current distribution partner Hammer in selling the Dell products as the vendor looks to grow its share of the UK market.

Denise Bryant, UK managing director at Magirus, said the signing was another key plank in its strategy "to provide a choice of the leading data centre vendors, which our business partners can offer to their customers".

Kathy Schneider, executive director, channel marketing and programe, Europe at Dell, said that Magirus has a large network of resellers and a reputation in the data centre market that made it an attractive channel partner.

She said it would be able to work with "virtualisation partners who need support migrating to virtualised data centre and cloud computing solutions".
