Resellers are moving to embrace the cloud if the experiences of Rise are a barometer of channel interest in selling hosted applications and services.

The cloud specialist has recruited 100 resellers in the last couple of years and is continuing its recruitment with a couple more partner events later this month in Manchester and Reading.

Although the move by some in the channel has been slow towards the cloud there is growing evidence from the analyst community and from the coalface that things are changing this year.

"We believe that 2012 is going to be a real breakthrough year for cloud computing in terms of opportunity for the channel," said Alex Hilton, managing director of Rise.

"As the cloud becomes an increasingly accepted norm across all organisations and sectors, so the opportunity for resellers offering cloud services becomes more apparent," he added.
