Hammer has extended its footprint into Europe opening a Netherlands office bolstering its satellite operations across the continent.

The Basingstoke-based distributor already operates out of Italy, Sweden and Belgium and s planning to extend its storage portfolio and brand position with opening an operation in a further territory.

The Dutch office will be run by Ivo Roersma, who said that there was a gap in the market for a channel player with in-depth storage knowledge.

Managing director of Hammer James Ward said that the opening would "fortify our current position, and further strengthen our brand across Europe".

Paul Matravers, European and storage products director, said that to grow sales you needed to have a presence in a region and people who could get out and meet customers.

"Having an in-depth understanding of local businesses and culture, and physical presence near to our partners is, we believe, the key to continuing success in Europe," he said.
