Although most in the channel do not produce apps for smart phones and tablets themselves the growth in that market will have repercussions for other services that resellers offer.
The latest predictions about the size of the mobile apps market from IDC indicated that they are now being seen as a serious tool in the enterprise market, particularly as consumerisation takes hold.
Nicholas McQuire, research director of enterprise strategies EMEA at IDC said that the increasing use of mobile apps was continuing across enterprise customers.
"Despite an uncertain macroeconomic climate, Europe mobile enterprise application deployments accelerate as businesses looked to enchance customer engagement, business processes and employee productivity," he said.
That growth is seen as a golden opportunity for the channel to pitch management tools and talk about the impact of the apps on existing user policies and infrastructure.
"Enterprises are investing in mobile applications to gain the benefits of broader workforce mobility. However, as they do this they could find that costs and management related to connectivity spiral," said Rene Hendrikse, vice president of iPass EMEA.
"The channel should be looking at ways to provide enterprises with cost effective WI-Fi connectivity regardless of where the employee is, that can also be managed to ensure their security and broader IT management policies are adhered to," he added.
