Hewlett-Packard has vowed to continue offering financial support for resellers in the face of an ongoing touch economy extending its pay for rewards scheme into the second quarter.

The scheme ensures that resellers get rewards for every pound they sell and is an alternative to the common approach of offering thresholds and targets.

Kevin Matthews, UK&I enterprise storage, server and networking channel manager, said that it recognised that the trading environment had remained tough for resellers and they wanted support and "certainty with dealing with us".

The decision to keep the rewards scheme going comes against a backdrop of ongoing uncertainty in the UK economy with figures released yesterday indicating that a slide back into recession has happened as the impact of the Eurozone crisis started to be felt.
