Only three royals, the Queen, the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Edinburgh, are entitled to grant Royal Warrants, which are issued on a five year renewable basis to firms that have had a trading relationship with a member of the Royal Family for at least five years.

Surrey-based GSS, works with a range of public and private sector businesses including financial houses and various NHS trusts, but also counts the Queen - or presumably someone acting on her behalf - among its clients.

"The granting of Her Majesty's Royal Warrant is a great honour for GSS ... and a strong endorsement of all the work done for the Royal Household over many years by all the GSS staff," said GSS managing director David Hobson.
