Resellers are moving to the cloud and showing that the customer base is far wider than just the SME heartlands with public sector and finance verticals both proving to be good hunting grounds for dealers.

The second annual survey of the channel and its views on emerging technologies from distributor ComputerLinks has revealed that just under half of those partners it quizzed now offer cloud services.

Business continuity and internet continuity are seen as some of the key attributes of a hosted service and resellers like selling mature established managed services packages.

Dave Ellis, director of new technologies and services at ComputerLinks, said that the findings were encouraging with more partners making the move to the cloud.

He said that the demand from vertical markets was also a positive sign that the potential customer base for the channel had widened considerably last year.

"It is not just in the SME sector where it has been busy and public sector, finance as well as healthcare, education , retail and distribution have all been getting into using the cloud," he said.
