Cloud specialist Rise has promoted Alex Hilton to the role of managing director after a successful stint building business at the infrastructure player over the last year and a half.

Hilton has masterminded an expansion in partner recruitment and been part of the strategic relationship with Ingram Micro UK in his previous role as sales director, which he took on back in June 2010.

He will be known to many in the software channel after his 12 year stint at Microsoft where he ended his time running the vendor's software asset management business.

Andy Burton, CEO of Rise, said that Hilton had a wealth of channel knowledge and it was good promoting from within the organisation.

"Rise is a highly strategic part of the €2bn group revenue and we will further develop our IT services portfolio with Rise in 2012," he added  "we will be adding significant resources and investment in order to ensure it becomes a globally recognised Cloud services provider."
