Software Asset Management (SAM) specialists have highlighted the latest company caught out by the Business Software Alliance (BSA) as a reason more companies should take advantage of tools that will keep them on the right side of the law.
Slick Seating Systems were left £11,000 lighter after a whistle blower tipped off the BSA and an audit found it was using unlicensed software leading to settlement and the costs of buying the correct licenses.
The grandstand seating firm was cooperative during the process but according to those selling SAM could have saved itself some money had it kept on top of its software estate.
With the BSA upping its game in recent years, especially with the encouragement of whistle blowing by companies' own staff, the need to pay close attention to your software license estate is more important than ever," said Sean Robinson, director at License Dashboard.
