UK consumers are some of the fastest at adopting the latest technology to take advantage of anytime and anywhere connection but continue to have security concerns.
According to the KPMG Converged Lifestyle report the growth of tablets. smart phones and the use of social networking and ecommerce is a global trend but in the UK market the adoption had been more rapid.
But British consumer are also more price conscious when it comes to choosing new devices and services and continue to have concerns over privacy and security.
Tudow Aw, KPMG's European head of technology, said that consumers were adopting new technology and this opened up new opportunities to retailers and telco providers as well as advertisers.
"However, the report also shows that consumers' concerns over privacy and data security have increased over the last few years and companies across all sectors need to take this concern seriously," he said.
"Whether its retailers or banks, consumers want transparency as to what companies do about data security and they want third parties to certify this security," he added.
From a retail perspective the message that emerges from the report seems is one of ensuring they have information that can be manipulated by tablets and smartphones as an increasing number of customers use them to locate stores and compare prices.
