Former FAST boss John Lovelock is returning to the channel at the helm of US IT asset management (ITAM) outfit IAITAM, which is expanding into Europe having previously managed the region out of the States.

The organisation, which was closely involved in the development of ISO software asset management (SAM) standards, already claims to have 500 online subscribers in the UK, and will be running its first course on Certified Software Asset Management in London towards the end of the month.

The two day course will cover software licence and agreement negotiations, compliance management, SAM policy developing and project management techniques, among other things, and Lovelock told MicroScope the organisation was especially keen for resellers to get involved.

"Our courses map very nicely against the ISO standard, so the option will be for resellers to avail themselves of the courses and take that knowledge forward," he explained.

"The channel will have the opportunity to see how the classes blend in with the ISO standard so that they can either give end-users advice as a consultant, or encourage them onto future courses."

Added Lovelock: "ITAM ... has become a focal point in corporate initiatives, whether it's manging software licensing costs or creating an internal business model using IT asset disposal. [It] is a core business initiative and business process that brings value back into the organisation."
