Cheshire-based IBM System i specialist Life IT has bought fellow IBM partner and software specialist Profesional Software Solutions Ltd (PSSL) in a bid to expand the range of services it can provide to its customers.

PSSL was founded in 1987 as a IBM Mid-Range software distie and has since expanded to take on System i, iSeries and AS/400 platforms as well as other software vendors working in the identity and barcode sectors.

"The acquisition both complements and expands our range of software solutions for the System i server," said Life IT chief exec Jill Sherratt.

Sherratt said the firm would now be able to offer "everything a customer needs to implement identity technology including barcode scanners, RFID readers, printers and barcode labels for a wide range of applications."

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
