The founder and CEO or Romania-based CoSoSys, Roman Foeckl, and senior vice president, Michael Bauner, bought the firm back from Astaro at the start of the month less than a year after it was first acquired, and barely two months after Astaro was itself bought by Sophos.
"We have seen great momentum in our business development that we believe has its highest potential as an independent company," Foeckl said.
"We are thankful for the opportunity and the suport from Astaro and Sophos in this partnership and buyout," he added.
Astaro co-founder and senior vice president and general manager of network security at Sophos, Jan Hichet, said the firm fully supported CoSoSys' decision to go its own way.
CoSoSys' Michael Bauner added: "Our customers, distribution and channel partners can expect exciting new product releases and an innovative roadmap from us."
