Datatec, the South Africa-based parent of Westcon and Logicalis, has said its trading and profitability are continuing to improve, with gross margins also on the up.

In an interim management statement covering the period from 1 March to 30 June, Datatec said its diversification and broad business mix meant both revenues and operating profits had improved year-on-year.
Networking and convergence distie Westcon turned in a solid financial performance, with its best growth in APAC and AIME (Africa, India and Middle East). Gross margins also improved in Europe.
Meanwhile, systems integrator Logicalis turned in a strong performance on the back of increasing levels of investment in the Latin American theatre. Datatec said the UK business was performing well desptie local economic weakness.
The firm left its forecast figures for the financial year to 28 February 2012 unchanged, predicting sales somewhere in the region of $5bn (£3.1bn) and profit after tax of approximately $84m.
