Cloud optimisation services specialist Akamai Technologies has announced plans to expand its channel with a partner programme designed to help global IT solution providers integrate the company's services into their offerings.

The company has already built global alliances with the likes of HP, Rackspace Hosting, Jive Software and Verizon, as well as regional technology providers and integrators around the world.

The NetAlliance Partner Program is aimed at hardware and software integrators, application and infrastructure service providers and commerce and digital media platform providers.

Brad Rinklin, vice president of Global Marketing & Alliances for Akamai said the programme would help create "an eco-system of proven technology leaders in all regions of the world who are committed to advancing how business in conducted online".

Vice president of International Marketing and Channels, Martin Haring, described 2011 as "a big year for extending Akamai's channel".
