Manchester-based Cisco partner ANS Group has become the first European partner to receive Cisco's cloud infrastructure certification.

The competency forms part of Cisco's Cloud Builder and Provider programme, formally announced earlier this year at the vendor's partner conference in the States and is designed to accelerate partner cloud offerings through various enablement and demand-generation activities.

These will leverage the firm's existing investments in certifications and investments from both Cisco and other technology partners, such as NetApp and VMware, said ANS.

"To be the first partner in Europe to be accepted to this programme is another sign from within the industry that we are moving in an exciting direction," said managing director Paul Sweeney.

"We have recently expanded our portfolio to offer I3 [the firm's Infrastructure 3.0 datacentre architecture] as a managed service where we will run customers' networks on our shared cloud infrastructure.

"We are very excited about the potential of this latest programme to increase our share of the datacentre market," he added.
