Email management specialist Mimecast has used Microsoft's World Partner Conference to announce a free package of Exchange 2010 and Office 365 migration services with the intention of preventing email downtime and data loss during the process.
The firm reckons it will give away close to $30m (£19m) worth of services to customers during the six-month promo, which it claims will cover the costs of 2.1 million customers, and is also targeting VARs looking to provide Microsoft migration services.
Mimecast CEO Peter Bauer said the business world was on the verge of a "surge in email migration" as CIOs eye up the potential of Office 365.
"We are offering organisations the chance to put in place safeguards before they migrate, essentially de-risking the whole process," he said.
"For many of our customers, the potential dangers of migrating between systems is a barrier to upgrading," added Softcat solutions director Sam Routledge.
"Becuase Mimecast's services are tailor-made to alleviate the problems of migration, they have proved to be a real advantage for us when selling Exchange or Office 365," he added.
