Bucks-based server cabinet manufacturer Kell Systems has been bought by APC by Schneider Electric for an undisclosed sum.

APC, which was acquired by Schneider Electric in 2007, specialises in uninterruptible power supplies, electronics peripherals and other datacentre products.

APC said the addition of Kell's 'server room in a box' cabinets to its product suite would allow it to offer independently operable office server storage, address a wider range of customers, and reduce their capital and running costs.

"[This] is an opportunity to give our combined business market leadership in the server and network room/closet environment, and to bring innovation in the rack market, that uniquely differentiates us in the small systems space," said APC president and CEO Laurent Vernerey.

Kell joint managing director David O'Coimin added: "We now have the mandate, reach and power to engage, create and provide solutions on a global scale."
