Security specialist Sysec has outlined its ambitions to expand its managed services business after hiring an ex-Computer Associates staffer to run that operation.

The reseller has made John Maden professional services director with responsibility for growing the customer base looking for endpoint protection and identity and access management.

In his career Maden has not just worked at Computer Associates but also BMC Software and McAfee with experience of growing services revenues.

Cris Pikes, CEO of Sysec, said that the appointment indicated the ambitions the channel player had in growing its services operations.

"The appointment...marks the start of the next phase in Sysec's growth. He will lead Sysec's development of our professional service capabilities to provide our customers with the ability to apply technology to their need for enhanced identity management and data protection as they move towards greater reliance on cloud computing," he said.

Maden responded that the cloud in particular was changing the security landscape and there were plenty of opportunities to respond to customers concerns with the current situation.
