Mobile handset and accessories distie 20:20 Mobile has signed a pan-European framework agreement to distribute Huawei devices across the region.

Under the terms of the contract 20:20 will get access to Huawei smartphones, tablets, dongles and mobile Wi-Fi hostpots, targeting both specialist and non-specialist channels, including telcos, network operators and mobility and IT VARs.

The Chinese vendor is planning to launch its own brand range of high-end smartphones and tablet towards the end of the year to complement its operator-branded device lines. Ultimately, it hopes to mount a credible challenge to the dominant smartphone players.

"It is crucial for us to partner with a distributor who can expand our retail channels and add real value to our proposition in the process," said Wang Jiading, vice president of devices at Huawei.

20:20 CEO Meinie Oldersma said the vendor had "considerable" ambition for its smartphone and tablet brands, adding: "Its R&D resource and partnership will distinguish it in the market. We are delighted to join at this exciting stage in the development of its portfolio."
