Attachmate senior vice president of global sales and general manager of host connectivity solutions, Bob Flynn, is to take charge of the Novell business unit as president and general manager. EMEA sales will be headed up by Dirk Schmidt
Speaking to MicroScope, Flynn said: "My heritage out of Attachmate is a strong background of direct sales alongside a strong partner organisation to maximise cover for our customers.
"From our standpoint we're trying to eliminate and minimise disruption in the channel. [Novell's] channel relationships and utilisation in Europe is very strong, and we don't envisage any changes to that; we will maintain that organisation if not increase it," he said.
Flynn will also oversee a refocusing on Novell's core solutions in the collaboration and endpoint management markets.
This will allow it to dedicated resources to meeting existing and new customer requirements, "where the company's heritage and expertise is strongest" said Attachmate.
It is understood that a substantial number of redundancies will be made as a result of the changes, according to reports in US media.
