Cloud and SaaS specialist and Microsoft technology partner intY has launched a cloud-based unified comms service built around Microsoft Lync, with the intention of highlighting potential midmarket deals to its VAR community.

The solution, which is available as a white-label service, adds Microsoft's Lync hosted telephony into its enterprise-class integrated voice, data and collaboration service billed on a per user, per month basis.

Managing director Chris Baldock told MicroScope that at the present time, and for at least a few more months, "the ability to use a shared platform with multiple customers and deliver Lync to the midmarket is simply not available".

"We've stitched it together to enable partners to deliver Lync alongside the full suite of intY products, giving our partners potentially a six month lead in the marketplace before Microsoft has its own technology available," he said.

The firm believes that opening up enterprise-grade services and data centres to midmarket providers will ease concerns over the capital cost of setting up and managing a high-performance hosted environment.
