TalkTalk has splashed out on the acquisition of Tyneside-based Brocade, HP and Microsoft Gold reseller Executel.

Executel, which supplies phone systems, data solutions and unified comms to public and private sector organisations, will be folded into TalkTalk's b2b unit, TalkTalk Business, which rebranded from Opal earlier this year.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Executel is expected to contribute around £8m of incremental sales to TalkTalk's coffers during the current financial year.

TalkTalk Business CEO Paul Lawton said Executel was a "long term and valued" partner of the business.

"They fit extremely well with our existing operations and give us a much stronger position in the north-east of England," he added.

TalkTalk sees the deal as a statement of its ambition to strengthen its sales and engineering capabilities.
