IT staff working in the public sector should have an easier time finding jobs in the private sector according to those in the recruitment industry.

Despite the rising unemployment figures and some of the highest graduate unemployment for years there are signs that if you have the rights skills things might work out for you.

Speaking on Radio 4 this morning to discuss the state of the recruitment market a spokesman for Hays said that the job market remained tough.

He responded to a question about the ability of the private sector to pick up the public sector slack with a comment that if you had the right skills, using IT as an example, then you were more likely to be successful.

The IT jobs market had rebounded from the 2009 slump but in recent months there have been warnings that as the fiscal year starts this month the job cuts in the public sector will filter through and derail the recovery.
