The appetite for Apple's latest tablet, the iPad 2, seems to be as high as ever with the vendor managing to shift not far off a million units on its US launch over the weekend.

The tablet - which includes both cameras and faster processors among other new features - comes out in the UK towards the end of the month but was launched in the US at the weekend to long queues and empty shelves as stores sold out of stock.
Once the numbers are confirmed it looks as if the launch has already eclipsed opening weekend sales of its predecessor.
Some of the largest retailers in the States saw stock sell out and Apple's online store is telling US buyers that orders might take a month to be delivered.
With the original iPad launch the queues and sales experienced in the US were replicated on a more modest scale in the UK.
