Franco-American comms giant Alcatel-Lucent is ramping up its partner recruitment activities in the UK in a bid to encourage more specialist data and security resellers to sell its OmniAccess Laptop Guardian and Web Services Gateway security products.

The recruitment drive will be backed up by a full revamp of Alcatel-Lucent's business partner training programmes, adding technical training on its security kit and more emphasis on sales methodology.
"With end-users recognising the vast potential of IP solutions to enable dynamic communications, it's no longer acceptable for resellers to just pitch one-size-fits-all technology at these organisations," remarked Alcatel-Lucent UK enterprise vice-president, David Parker.
Simultaneously, Alcatel-Lucent has announced a new partnership with financial sector reseller Abraxus, which will gain access to its full portfolio but will focus in particular on the OmniAccess line-up.
Three weeks after struggling CEO Patricia Russo finally succumbed to calls for her resignation, Alcatel-Lucent has not yet announced a successor, but earlier in the week shares surged on speculation that former president Mike Quigley was considering a return to the company.
