Besides UTStarcom, Cambridge graduate Blackmore has also served as executive vice president of worldwide sales, marketing and technology at Unisys, and before that worked in HP's Customer Solutions and Enterprise Solutions Group, joining the company when it acquired Compaq in 2002.
"Peter brings a wealth of hardware, software, services and channel expertise to ShoreTel," said board chairman Gary Daichendt. "His track record of successfully scaling technology organisations worldwide makes him the right leader to accelerate ShoreTel's growth."
In ShoreTel's most recent set of financial results, the vendor capitalised on growing demand for cost-effective IP networking kit to grow sales by 31%. It has, however suffered a series of net losses and the pressure will be on Blackmore's team to address the situation.
Don Girskis, who has been holding the fort on an interim basis, will return to his position of senior vice president of worldwide sales.
