There might be fears of a double-dip in the world economy but for now the recovery in the IT jobs market is continuing.

According to the latest Recruitment and Employment Confederation report into Technology demand and supply there is a higher demand for ICT specialists.

Permanent jobs went up by eight percent and contractor demand rose by 11% in Q2 compared to Q1.

Jeff Brooks, chair of REC Technology, said that although the jobs increases were encouraging there were still some areas experiencing skills shortages.

"Whilst public sector cuts provide uncertainty going forward, some of those reductions in demand have already been made by public bodies and we do not think they will change the demand landscape significantly," he said of the prospect of cuts derailing the recovery.

"We remain confident of the future direction of our sector and the IT industry," he added.
