Following last week's launch of Comstor's LEAP facility, Magirus has rolled out a dedicated Cisco data centre training plan called DC Traction that will help both new and existing Cisco resellers get up to speed on its data centre proposition.

"When we talked to our partners that weren't already doing Cisco, they said a major inhibitor was that the bar to become accredited on data centres was too high to make it viable," said Magirus UK country manager Denise Bryant.
The scheme will take advantage of its recently launched vBundles to target the midmarket and small business data centre sector, an area Cisco is very keen to exploit, according to data centre boss Jim De Haven.
Around 12 partners are being targeted at first, Bryant told MicroScope, with the ultimate goal to become certified as a Cisco data centre practice, a process she estimated would take about six months, depending on existing skill levels within the business.
Besides technical training initiatives, the scheme will be supported with the usual round of lead generation and co-marketing programmes, she added.
Bryant added that some Cisco resellers had complained that the vendor had a tendency to cancel undersubscribed courses at its Learning Centres, meaning the accreditation process took longer.
"We will be running sessions with lower partner numbers," she said.
