The ongoing migration from legacy systems to the world of Windows 7 and emerging applications is creating a customer headache and an opportunity for resellers.

Earlier this summer Gartner warned that the lack of skilled software staff was going to hold up Windows 7 migration for some firms and it was a problem that the channel could help solve.

Recognising that there are resellers emerging that have migration as well as application compatibility skills ChangeBASE has launched a channel programme to recruit more specialists.

"There is a massive amount of work to get legacy based systems working with a web browser," said John Tate, managing director of ChangeBASE.

"Everyone is looking at Win 7 as XP is getting pretty old and long in the tooth plus if users are going to refresh their desktops it is a shame not to get Windows 7 on the machines," he added.
