The battle for ownership of 3Par is going down to the wire with Dell matching HP's latest bid of $1.8bn in an attempt to seal the deal.
The two vendors have been slugging it out over the last couple of days taking the original bid from Dell of $1.5bn up to the current level of $1.8bn making the shareholders of the cloud storage player happier by the day.
The latest twist with Dell matching HP's response to its bid of $1.6bn yesterday by going to $1.8bn means that the week ends with the Texan company still favourite to win control of 3Par.
The board of the storage vendor have made it clear that they back the Dell bid and although were prepared to talk to HP would be keener to get into bed with Dell.
In its turn Dell has said that it will put its global muscle behind 3Par and has a proven track record of delivering the goods for companies and their employees post acquisition.
The ball now lies in HP's court.
