Laura Harman Avnet.JPGNortel distie Avnet Technology Solutions (ATS) has been retained by Avaya to distribute its UC and contact centre line-up in addition to the Nortel enterprise portfolio.

Avnet already distributed parts of the Avaya line, but now has plans to double its vendor team by early 2011.

"Avnet has long been a prime distributor of Nortel Enterprise Solutions and with the recent acquisition of Nortel by Avaya this is a perfect opportunity for business partners to access the full integrated Avaya product portfolio," said ATS sales director Laura Harman (pictured).

Avaya UK boss Lee Shorten added that the distie's "strong background" in Nortel data solutions would help voice resellers struggling with the converged networking picture.

Avnet's newly-appointed Avaya business manager Tony McNish set out preliminary plans for engagement on the new product lines with Nortel dealers, which include briefings and workshops designed to help data partners get up to speed on the telecoms-focused Avaya lines.

Currently, Avaya's five-strong UK distribution line-up is composed of Avnet, Azlan, Nimans, Scansource and Westcon.
