Novell and Fujitsu have announced the formation of a new vendor alliance designed to deliver flexible cloud solutions that are scaled to business needs.

Under the terms of the alliance, Fujitsu will run its Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) for Server offerings across Novell's SUSE Linux Enterprise Server. Novell will also stump up its Intelligent Workload Management software package for Fujitsu's infrastructure services proposition.

The two companies claim this will enable their partners to deploy cost-effective, managed virtual infrastructures to small and mid-market firms that lack the capacity to perform IT support themselves, as well as enterprises looking to manage peak demand by outsourcing part of their IT.

"By providing the interoperability and high availability platforms offered by SUSE Linux Enterprise, our partners will be able to purchase on demand and managed data centre services that cover the entire range of servers, memory systems and networks for the computing centre," said Fujitsu Technology Solutions IaaS head Rolf Kleinwaechter.

The fruits of the partnership will be made available across EMEA, the firms said.
