Even before the Chancellor George Osborne dots the i's and crosses the t's on plans to claw back £6bn from the public deficit the burden of meeting the demands of compliance is proving challenge for users.
According to a survey carried out by security distributor Vigil although regulations including GCSx and PCI DSS are improving data protection but making life more challenging for those in charge of keeping things on the straight and narrow.
Alex Teh, commercial director of Vigil Software, said that as public sector organisations looked to make budget cuts in-house knowledge was even more important.
"They might have to look for a bit more of a competitive best of breed solution and be a little bit more flexible," he said.
"The Conservatives and the Liberals have the responsibility to ensure all of our records are secure and unaccessible to others," he added.
Vigil's survey also highlighted the belief held by hust shy of half those resellers quizzed that investing in special skills was the strategy to stick with this year.
