Up to now the vendor has been selective with its customer base after rolling out its on-demand software suite Business ByDesign back in September 2007 using the experiences it gains to shape how it will launch a broad attack on the SME market.
Talking to MicroScope, Schalk Viljoen, director Business ByDesign, SME market development at SAP, (pictured) said that it had used the time since launch to get the total cost of ownership models right.
"We have taken it slowly to make sure we had the right product in he market where we know what the actual costs are," he said.
He said that resellers are going to be given a software development kit at the launch to provide the channel with the opportunity to add additional value to the service.
The ISV community has already been working with Business ByDesign and SAP yesterday unveiled 11 additional partners that have created solutions that add on to its software.
Business ByDesign has been a topic of conversation for six years with SAP working slowly towards getting the elements of the on-demand business suite working from a TCO angle.
