Internet security specialist Check Point has weighed in with its latest numbers as the stream of quarterly results continues throughout the industry this week.

Like many of its peers, Check Point reported growth in both sales and net profits, as evidence of the economic recovery gathers.

Sales were up 26% on the year-ago quarter top $245.1m (£159.9m), a new quarterly record, while net profit was up 21% to $98m, including amortisation of intangibles relating to the acquisition of the Nokia security business in 2009.

Chairman and CEO Gil Shwed hailed growth in Check Point's services model, saying: "Our software blade architecture continues to make inroads with our annuity based software blades helping to drive services revenues."
